Warm, nutty and softly musky, clary sage is a comforting oil with real depth, quite unlike common garden sage. Tisserand distils it from the pinkish flowering tops of plants grown in France, sourced through the brand's ethically harvested programme, which supports responsible cultivation and picking.

The 9ml amber glass bottle protects the pure essential oil from light. Its long-lasting aroma has made it a longstanding favourite for winding down: try six to eight drops in a diffuser during a quiet evening, four to six drops in 20ml of carrier oil swirled into a bath, or five drops per 10ml of blending oil for massage. It blends beautifully with sandalwood, bergamot and rose. For external use only, never undiluted on the skin, and best avoided during pregnancy unless your midwife or practitioner agrees.
